Master of Christian Studies

Master of Christian Studies

Available online and on the Jackson, Olford Center (Memphis-Germantown), and Hendersonville (suburb of Nashville) Campuses.

The Master of Christian Studies exists to raise the level of ministry competence among bi-vocational pastors, missionaries, church planters, foreign nationals planting ethnic churches in the U.S., church staff members, and laypersons seeking a more thorough blending of faith and life in the workplace.

MCS courses are foundational, in terms of the student's ability to think biblically and theologically, and synergetic, fostering effective ministry. MCS students become biblically and theologically grounded, while developing ministry skills that integrate faith and learning.

Master of Christian StudiesThe residential MCS program (Jackson, Memphis-Germantown, Hendersonville) fosters integration by pairing interrelated subject matter within a given term and by encouraging students to apply classroom learning to local church ministry through directed assignments.

The online program, originally designed for those under appointment or seeking appointment by an SBC missions agency or those whose vocational goals include direct involvement in church planting, focuses all courses on the missions task of the church, within the context of biblical and theological studies.

Most courses, whether on one of Union's three physical campuses or online, are offered in an accelerated eight-week format, and are offered at least once every year.

The MCS program seeks to advance God's kingdom around the world by laying a solid biblical and theological foundation and leading students to integrate their studies with ministry, from the Mid-South region to the far corners of the earth.

For more information specific to one of the three residential programs or the online option, please see the appropriate contacts in the sidebar.
