Union baseball takes just second loss of season

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - 3/2/2010 - The Union (Tenn.) University baseball team suffered just their second loss of the season with a 9-1 defeat at Rhodes (Tenn.) College. Union dropped to 12-2 overall, while Rhodes improved to 8-2.

Union trailed 3-0 after four innings when the Bulldogs finally got on the board. An RBI double by Beau Baker scored Corey Rudolph for Union’s only run in the fifth. Rhodes answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth and then put the game away with five runs in the seventh to win 9-1. Alex Turner was 3-for-4 to lead Union. Derek Copley (2-1) took the loss, giving up four runs and seven hits in five innings. Colin Hatch and Benjie Fesmire both pitched in relief for Union.

Up next for Union will be a home game on Wednesday, March 3 at 2:30 p.m. versus No. 14 William Carey (Miss.) University.
