Union men up to No. 14, women’s No. 1 streak continues

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/1/2011 - The Union (Tenn.) University basketball are ranked in the latest NAIA National Rankings. The Union men jumped three spots to No. 14, while the women extend their streak to 43 consecutive No. 1 rankings.

The Bulldogs have won six straight games and 15 of their last 16 games. Union finished the first half of the conference schedule in a three-way tie for first place with a 7-1 league record. Union is getting help from several players on the roster. Five players average double figures, while eight players are averaging five points or more.

The Union women have won 26 straight games overall and 43 straight regular season games. The 43 straight regular season games ties a Union record. The 26 straight wins is good for third all-time in Union history and the 21-0 start matches the second best start in Union history. Union has also won 59 straight TranSouth regular season games.

Up next for Union will be home games versus Bethel (Tenn.) on Thursday, February 3. The women play at 6:00 p.m. with the men to follow at 8:00 p.m.
