Final NAIA polls have Union women No. 1, men No. 12

JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/9/2011 - The Union (Tenn.) University basketball teams are ranked in the final NAIA basketball poll for the 2010-11 season. The Union women are No. 1 for an NAIA record 48th consecutive poll. The men dropped three spots to No. 12 in the final rankings.

The women have capped off a fourth straight year of being No. 1 in the rankings. The 48 straight No. 1 rankings streak started in the 2007 preseason poll. Union is 31-1 as they enter the NAIA National Tournament, having just captured the TranSouth Regular Season and Tournament titles. Union will be the top seed in the NAIA National Tournament on March 16-22 at Oman Arena in Jackson. Union will be looking for a third straight title. Union has won five titles overall, including four in the last six years.

The Union men dropped to No. 12 after being upset in the conference semifinals. Union had won the previous two conference tournament titles. The Bulldogs are 26-6 as they enter the national tournament, which will be March 16-22 in Kansas City, Mo.
