Union’s Irvin named TranSouth Baseball Pitcher of the Week

JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/2/2012 - Union University senior Will Irvin has been named the TranSouth Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 1, 2012. This is the first such honor this season for Irvin.

Irvin, a 6-foot-1 senior pitcher from Salusbury, Tenn., tossed a complete game shutout as he helped Union to a series win over Cumberland. Irving pitched 8.0 innings, allowing just two hits, one walk and struck out five batters. His outing helped Union win an extra inning game 1-0 in the series opener. Irvin is 4-2 on the season with a 3.20 ERA.

Union is 19-13-1 overall and 7-6-1 in the TranSouth. The Bulldogs are receiving votes in the latest NAIA rankings.

Union plays on the road this week, going to Missouri Baptist Tuesday and then playing a conference series at Bethel Friday and Saturday.
