Lectures on "Facing the Dying of the Light: Perspectives on Aging and Dying"

Meilaender is among the most well-known theological ethicists of our time. He is the author of 13 books and scores of articles, and his excellent work has been recognized repeatedly by his peers with awards such as the Smith Award for Distinguished Contribution to Pro-Life Scholarship (2009) and the Paul Ramsey Award for Excellence in Bioethics (2009). He is a Fellow of the Hastings Center for Bioethics, a Remick Fellow at the Center for Ethics and Culture at the University of Notre Dame, and, since 2002, a member of the President's Council on Bioethics.

Meilaender holds the Duesenberg Chair of Christian Ethics at Valparaiso University. Before Valparaiso, he taught at the University of Virginia and Oberlin College. Meilaender earned his M.Div. at Concordia Seminary-St. Louis, his Ph.D. at the University of Virginia, and is an ordained minister in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

The lectures will take place over the lunch hour and in the evening on Tuesday, March 15 and on Thursday, March 17. They are free and open to the public. Each lecture will be followed by a question and answer period. You are free to attend as many or as few of the lectures as you like.
