Vice President for Enrollment Management

Full-time Staff Position
Campus: Jackson

This position is responsible for building and maintaining Union University’s traditional undergraduate enrollment in accordance with the University’s mission and goals.  Provides leadership and coordinates planning for assigned areas of responsibility, including Undergraduate Admissions, Student Financial Planning and Academic Support.

The Vice President for Enrollment Management reports to the President, serves as a member of the University Cabinet, and provides direct supervision to the Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Admissions; the Director of Student Financial Planning; and the Director of Academic Support. Through these direct reports the VPEM will lead a team of 22 professional and support staff.

Union University is a private, coeducational liberal arts-based university offering bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees.  The campus is located in Jackson, Tenn. (80 miles northeast of Memphis) with additional campuses in Germantown and Hendersonville, Tenn.  Union University currently enrolls more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students from more than 40 states and 30 countries.  Union University stands as a national leader among colleges and universities in promoting a Christian worldview and a Christ-centered approach to education. Essential Job Functions

  1. Articulate and accomplish enrollment goals in accordance with the University's goals and vision.  
  2. Lead the Enrollment Services Leadership Team.
  3. Provide direction and oversight to the Assistant Vice President of Undergraduate Admissions and the Undergraduate Admissions office.
  4. Develop and direct financial aid, providing guidance and support to the Director for Student Financial Planning. 
  5. Provide leadership and guidance to the Director of Academic Support.
  6. Work with other University personnel as needed to improve registration and advising systems.
  7. Collaborate with other University personnel regarding new program development and program modifications, giving emphasis to program marketability.
  8. Manage the overall Enrollment Management budget in consultation with the directors. 
  9. Work with the University Communications to develop timely and appropriate marketing materials.
  10. Represent the University as needed.
  11. Work with the Admissions Committee regarding any applicants for admission who are questionable or who may not fully meet the published standards of the University.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have graduated from an accredited college or university with a graduate degree in a related field and at least seven years of enrollment management leadership experience, preferably at a Christian university.  This position requires demonstrated ability to perform essential job functions, and strong leadership skills with demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication including public presentations.   

Successful candidates must be professing Christians who are active members of a local church, enthusiastically support Union University’s Identity, Mission and Core Values, and articulate a Christian worldview in their work and life. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:  Best practices in undergraduate admissions process in the field of Christian higher education. Also, knowledge of U.S. Department of Education rules, regulations, and procedures regarding student financial assistance; knowledge of traditional reference materials and electronic resources; and familiarity with information literacy standards for higher education. 

Skills in:  Leadership and general oversight of a highly motivated team; excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; problem solving, conflict resolution, office organization and time management abilities; operation of numerous technological tools including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Outlook, and searching central student database system (Datatel); and providing excellent customer service. 

Ability to:  Work creatively in a collaborative, collegial environment; have a strong commitment to user-focused services, and the flexibility to handle multiple responsibilities in a changing environment.
