Collection development is understood to cover several activities related to the development of library collections including the selecting materials, determining and coordinating the selection policy, assessing of the needs of users and potential users, analyzing the collection, building liaison relationships, working with subject experts, and managing the materials budget.

Faculty Representatives and Librarian Liaisions exist to establish and maintain mutual understanding and cooperation between academic departments and the library. Each academic department is presented by a Faculty Representative and a Librarian Liaison is also assigned to each department. Librarians work with and reach out to academic departments in order to better understand and meet their needs.
The library's Collection Development Policy is used to guide and control the management of library resources.
