JACKSON, Tenn.March 29, 2006 – Union University marketing professor Darin White has been named to a new role as professor and director of academic research in Union’s McAfee School of Business Administration.

In his new position, White will lead the business school in a more vigorous pursuit of scholarly research and publications. Keith Absher, dean of the McAfee School, said White’s outstanding skills as a researcher will serve the business school well.

“His analytical skills and genuine enthusiasm for scholarly research make him a tremendous asset to Union University and the McAfee School of Business,” Absher said. “His guidance and support to other faculty members in pursuit of research projects will be invaluable to the continued growth and progress of our program.”

White has been with Union since 1994. In addition to his position as professor, he has also served as head coach for the Union men’s soccer team since 1994, a role he is giving up as he focuses on his new job.

“I have enjoyed my time as soccer coach tremendously, and still hope to be involved in the program at some level,” White said. “But I think the Lord has opened the door for me to reengage in the research side of my academic career. I truly feel the Lord is leading me in this direction.”

In his new role, White will help the McAfee School of Business as it pursues accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. He will work with the faculty in the business school to move forward in research activity.

“For the McAfee School of Business to achieve our goal of AACSB accreditation, there is a significant amount of work that has to be accomplished,” White said. “It’s as challenging as anything I’ve ever faced.”

White holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and mathematics from Birmingham-Southern College, as well as a master’s degree and Doctor of Philosophy degree in marketing from the University of Alabama.

He has published articles in the Journal of Strategic Marketing, the European Journal of Marketing and the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services.

White is also president of Capstone Consulting International, Inc., a full-service marketing consulting firm.

He and his wife Laura have seven children and are members of Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson.
