JACKSON, Tenn.March 5, 2007 – Author and National Public Radio senior correspondent Juan Williams will speak at Union University March 7 as part of the ninth annual Union Forum event.

Williams will address the topic, “People Focused: Opportunity in America.”

In addition to his role with NPR, Williams is a contributing political analyst for the Fox News Channel. During his 21-year career with the Washington Post, Williams covered the White House, served as an editorial writer and as a columnist.

A critically acclaimed author, Williams’ latest book is entitled “Enough: The Phony Leaders, Dead-End Movements, and Culture of Failure That Are Undermining Black America--and What We Can Do About It.” He also wrote the bestseller “Eyes on the Prize: America's Civil Rights Years, 1954-1965,” and a biography of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.

A graduate of Haverford College, Williams currently sits on a number of boards, including the Aspen Institute of Communications and Society Program, Washington Journalism Center and the New York Civil Rights Coalition.

Williams will speak at a luncheon that begins at 11:45 a.m. He will be available to speak to the media beginning at 11:15 a.m. The luncheon will be held in the Coburn Dining Room, located in the Barefoot Student Union Building.

Tickets for the luncheon are $30 each, or $150 for a table of six. Online registration is available at www.uu.edu/events/unionforum/2007.
