BBC’s Kay to speak Sept. 30 at Union Forum luncheon

JACKSON, Tenn.Sept. 23, 2009 – British Broadcasting Corp. news correspondent Katty Kay will speak at Union University Sept. 30 as part of the ongoing Union Forum luncheon lecture series.

Kay, co-presenter of BBC World news bulletins and the Washington correspondent for BBC World News America, will speak in the Carl Grant Events Center at 11:45 a.m. on the topic “Washington from a Different Angle.”

Raised and educated in the Middle East, Kay offers an often-overlooked international perspective on U.S. events and headlines, providing a candid look at America through an international prism. She is a regular guest commentator on NBC’s Meet the Press and the Chris Matthews Show.

For the past 10 years, Union University has hosted some of the nation’s top speakers to address important political, social, business and religious topics. Previous speakers have included Norah O’Donnell, Juan Williams, Robert George, Clarence Page, Morton Kondracke and Margaret Carlson, among others.

In the second installment of this year’s Union Forum, Boston University religion professor Stephen Prothero will speak at Union March 10 on the topic “Religious Literacy.” Tickets are $40 each, or $200 for a table of six.
