JACKSON, Tenn. – Oct. 25, 2010 – Union University’s career services office will host the 10th annual Career “U”niversity Oct. 28 to provide students with career advice and a chance to meet with recruiters.
Career U is an academic approach to career planning and preparation. This year’s event will focus on the need for students to take advantage of internship opportunities and will provide them with information on selecting a major.
Reneé Jones, Union’s assistant director of recruitment and information technology in career services, said that internships are a valuable tool for students, and that employers often use internships as a means of identifying potential employees.
“Students can network with top recruiters during our internship career fair for an internship opportunity that could lead to a full-time position,” Jones said.
Companies that will be represented at this year’s event include: Aflac, American General, Becker Professional Education, Enterprise Holdings, Leaders Credit Union, Shoemaker Financial, Tennessee National Guard, Boys and Girls Club, Carl Perkins Center, Hertz Corp., Internal Revenue Service, Madision County Court Appointed Special Advocates, Social Security Administration and Women’s Resource and Rape Assistance Program.
Several Union University departments will also participate.
