JACKSON, Tenn. – March 7, 2013 – Ashley Pugh, a third-year pharmacy student at Union University, was one of 12 pharmacy students nationally to receive a 2013 student scholarship from the American Pharmacists Association Foundation.
The awards were presented March 4 at the APhA annual meeting in Los Angeles.
“I am humbled to be recognized as a leader by the APhA Foundation,” Pugh said. “I am very passionate about the practice of pharmacy, and the experience I have gained by involvement with APhA. It has been tremendously rewarding.”
To be chosen for this award, students must demonstrate leadership skills and strong academics through active involvement in their schools’ APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists chapter.
“The goal of being a leader in pharmacy is ultimately to improve the lives of patients,” Pugh said. “I plan to continue to be involved with the community through the duration of my time as a student and maintain this involvement as I begin my career as a pharmacist.”
