JACKSON, Tenn.Dec. 12, 2013 – Michael Duduit, former Union University executive vice president, will be the keynote speaker for Union’s graduation ceremony Dec. 14 at West Jackson Baptist Church.

More than 300 students will receive their degrees during the ceremony, in which Union will also present the Robert E. Craig Service Award to the Dement family – Sonny and Beth Dement and Bill and Katherine Dement. The Dements are the owners of Dement Construction Co. Bill currently serves on the Union Board of Trustees.

The Dements have been generous donors to the university, helped clean the campus following tornadoes in 2002 and 2008 and were involved in key building projects – most notably Miller Tower.

Duduit is the founding dean of the College of Christian Studies and the David T. Clamp Graduate School of Christian Ministry at Anderson University. He is also the founder and executive editor of Preaching magazine. He served at Union from 1996-2002.

“Mike Duduit is recognized as a gifted and creative leader in Baptist higher education,” Union President David S. Dockery said. “His fingerprints on Union University during the early years of this administration continue to have an ongoing influence, having made an indelible mark.

“It will be a joy for all of us to once again welcome Dr. Duduit back to the Union University campus.”

The service will begin at 11 a.m.
