Dr. Jacqueline Taylor joined Union University in November 2000 and currently serves as the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of the Vocatio Center for Life Calling and Career. Dr. Taylor holds the doctorate in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Higher Education Administration, and she also holds the Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Educational Psychology and the Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Union University as well as an Associate of Applied Science degree in Business (Management concentration) from Jackson State Community College. Jacqueline is also a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Trainer and has invaluable expertise in gifts assessment and life calling and career development. She also has experience teaching adult continuing education in technology and has recently developed a new course entitled "Personalized Academic & Career Exploration (PACE)," based in large part on her dissertation research entitled "The Relationship Between College Student Success and the Student's Degree of Perceived Self-Efficacy, Career Focus, and Sense of Life Calling or Purpose," which serves as a capstone to her professional and academic preparation in higher education.
In addition to her 23 years of experience in higher education in the areas of student services and academics (success, support, and retention), continuing education instruction and instructional technology, Dr. Taylor is also knowledgeable of learning styles, personality assessment/evaluation techniques, and educational research for program design and improvement, and she has gained a wealth of experience in cross cultural communication during her career in higher education. Dr. Taylor is married to her husband of 22 years, Earnest Taylor and they have two beautiful daughters, Cecily (2010 graduate of Union University) and Adrienne, an Honors sophomore at Lexington High School! She is also a committed Sunday School Teacher for New Life In Christ Ministries in Lexington, TN.
Ben is a 2007 Union University History graduate (with teaching endorsements in History and Bible) who also holds a Master's of Divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, CA. His primary responsibilities will be to coordinate all co-curricular programming workshops within the department as well as provide administrative oversight for the Servant Leadership Award program. In addition, Ben will also serve as career coach for FR-SO students with a particular emphasis on history, psychology, education, and Christian Studies majors. Ben is passionate about working with students to hone their life's focus and come into their own through engagement with the Christian intellectual tradition here at Union. He is excited to use his experiences from both teaching middle school and youth ministry to further assist Union's students in settling into a path best utilizing their passions and skills. He loves serving his local church, reading, discussing theology and ethics, being outside especially near water, and spending time with his wife and two children.
Esperanza is a May 2012 Union Psychology graduate and Spanish minor with four years of technology experience as an Information Technology technician here at Union. Esperanza will connect students to available resources and advisors across the Union campus as well as provide administrative support to a five-member team. Her godly spirit and character coupled with her willingness to serve others will increase the ongoing advocacy and support to Union students offered throughout the Student Life Division.
