Coach’s Comments. Kyle has been a great pickup for Union. Kyle plays excellent defense in centerfield and is a true lead-off hitter. Kyle provides a left-handed bat at the top of the order that can make things happen with his speed. Kyle is the key to our lineup.
Union Career. 2006...First Bulldog Season.

Before Union: Yates transferred to Union from the University of North Alabama where he played two seasons. In 2005 at UNA, he hit .267 with with 36 runs and 32 RBI. As a freshman at UNA, he hit .338 with 23 runs and 11 RBI. In his two seasons at UNA, Yates stole 15-of-18 bases. Yates prepped at Jackson North Side were he played both baseball and football. He was a member of the three-time (1999, 2001, 2002) district championship team and also the two-time (1999, 2001) region championship team. Yates was named All-District, All-Region, and District Tournament MVP in high school.
