Before Union: Turner transferred to Union from Jackson State Community College where he played two seasons for Coach Steve Cornelison. While at JSCC, he posted a .292 batting average. Turner played high school baseball at Sumiton Christian High School for four seasons, leading his team to the 2004 Alabama State Title. While at Sumiton, he posted a .515 average as a junior and a .420 average as a senior. During his high school career, Turner was named the Daily Mountain Eagle Player of the Year, All-State, and All-Metro. He was also named the Team MVP.
