JACKSON, Tenn. – The “Lady Bulldogs” of Union University (Tenn.) dominated the boards and shot the lights out of Oman Arena to defeat the “Tigers” of the University of Auburn Montgomery to claim a 68-47 victory in the seventh game of the second round at the 24th Annual NAIA Division I Women’s National Basketball Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs garnered 25 defensive boards and shot 55% from the field, along with shooting 55% from behind the arc. The Union bench added to the victory by contributing 20 points in the win.
Union University put two players in double-digit scoring, led by Stephanie Clark with 18 points. Molly York followed with 11 points on the night.
The Tigers of the University of Auburn Montgomery were led in scoring by Monica Diamond with 16 points. The Tigers end the season with a 25-8 record in their fifteenth national tournament appearance.
The #2 seed Union University (32-4) now advances into the quarterfinals and will play the #1 seed Southern Nazarene University (Okla.) on Saturday, March 20th. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
