Union once again fell just short of a much need conference victory as Martin Methodist topped the Bulldogs 69-61 in Pulaski, Tenn. Union falls to 11-10 overall and 1-5 in conference play while Martin improve to 11-7 overall and 1-4.
The Bulldog led 34-27 at halftime but gave up 42 second half points to the RedHawks. Union was outrebounded 34-24 for the game. Both teams shot just under 50% from the field, however, Martin Methodist shot 43% (6-14) from behind the arc and 83% (15-18) from the free-throw line. Union managed only 27%(3-11) from three point land and 66% (12-18) from the line.
Union was led by Matt Noah with 16 points. Bruno Martinessi and Derrick Underwood added 11 points apiece. Underwood led Union with five rebounds. Martin Methodist was paced with a game-highs of 27 points and 15 rebounds from Marcus McNair. McNair shot 11-of-11 from the free throw line. Gerrod Shirey and CJ Hill added 16 and 10 points respectively.
Union will host Freed-Hardeman on Saturday, February 8 at 4:00 p.m.
