The Union University soccer team opened the 2003 season with a 3-0 shutout victory over NCAA Div. II opponent Ouachita Baptist. Union improved to 1-0 on the season as Ouachita Baptist falls to 0-1.
Union scored their first and game winning goal in the 20th minute as Kyle McDiarmid took a Kekec Zivkovic assits for the goal. Alexandre Pereira scored the second and third goals of the game in the 40th and 70th minute. Clovis Simas assited the first while Christopher Prentice and Pablo Paredes record a double assist on the final goal. Sophomore goalie Robert Stinson recorded one save in his 75 minutes in the net. Brian Hamilton recorded a save of his own in the final 15 minutes of play. Union led 2-0 at halftime and outshot Ouachita Baptist 17-2 for the game.
The Bulldogs will play next on Friday, August 29 at 3:00 p.m. versus Belhaven College in the Lambuth Soccer Classic.
