JACKSON, Tenn. - Union University improved to 2-0 in the TranSouth Conference play and 13-1 overall as the No.3 ranked Lady Bulldogs defeated Cumberland University (5-10-1-1) 101-68. Union's Stephanie Clark led five Lady Bulldogs in double figures.
Union used exceptional shooting from the field and an equally impressive defensive effort to earn the 33-point win. Union shot 56% from the field for the game, including 61% in the first half. From the three point line, Union made 9-15 (60%) for the game. Union also made 20-of-26 free throws for 77%. Cumberland was held to just 38% shooting from the field and 28% (5-18) from behind the arc. Union scored 35 points off of 23 Cumberland turnovers.
In addition to Clark's 20 point and six rebound effort to lead Union, Molly York scored 19 points, Ginger Bryant and Jennifer Henson tallied 18 points each, and Christina Smith added 15 for Union. Jennifer Henson made 4-of-5 three pointers in the game.
Union will host Lambuth University on Monday night, January 12 in a double header. The women will play at 6:00 p.m. and the men will follow at 8:00 p.m.
