Don Morris, Head Coach
Don Morris, a 1962 graduate of Union, is back as the head golf coach of the
Union golf program. This is his third season as head coach since retiring from
coaching in 1999. Morris served as the Assistant Vice President for Financial
Aid at Union for 33 years and also coached the Bulldog golf program for 29 of
those years before his retirement in 1999.
In his 29 years as coach for Union, Morris led the Bulldogs to nine national
tournaments and won numerous conference championships. Morris explains, “I didn’t expect to return to
coaching, however, I look forward to helping keep Union’s golf program as on of
the tops in the nation”.
Union has finished second the TranSouth Conference for the past two seasons
but has narrowly missed the national tournament each season. Union was ranked in
the NAIA Top 25 all season until a slip in the Regional golf tournament caused
them to miss the nationals by only a few points. Morris believes this is a good
enough class of golfers to return Union to the NAIA National Tournament in May.
