Union University Soccer Player Named TranSouth Conference Player of the Week

 

Jackson, TN Josephat Phiri, was named TranSouth Conference player of the week for his performance last week. This sophomore from Lusaka, Zambia scored a pair of goals and added one assist in a 5-1 victory of Freed Hardeman University. In the second conference win of the week, Phiri added another goal and assist as the Bulldogs defeated Lipscomb University 5-1. For the year, Phiri has set two school records this season; goals in a season with 14 and most points in a season with 33.

On the season, Union University is now 11-3 overall and 4-2 in the TranSouth Conference. The Bulldogs are on the verge of clinching their first postseason in the conference tournament. Union will be home this weekend as the Bulldogs will host the Boise Cup 2000 beginning on Friday.
