Union’s Martins Named TranSouth Volleyball Setter of the Week

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/8/2007 - Union University setter Jennifer Martins has been named the TranSouth Setter of the Week for the week ending October 7, 2007.

Martins, a 5-foot-7, junior from Mississauga, Ontario (Canada), led Union to a 2-1 week with wins over Rhodes College and Cumberland University. She set 144 assists (12 per game), had three double-digit dig outings (36 digs total) and had three aces this week. This is Martins’ second selection as Setter of the Week.

Union’s win over Rhodes marked the 300th victory in the Union volleyball program history, dating back to 1998.

In other notes, the Union University volleyball match scheduled for tonight at 7:00 pm versus Crichton College (Tenn.) has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances within the Crichton program. No makeup date has been set.

Up next for Union will be a TranSouth Conference match on Thursday, October 11 at Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) at 7:00 pm. The Lady Bulldogs will return home for a non-conference match-up with the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
