JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/5/2007 - The Union University volleyball team closed out their 2007 home schedule with a 3-0 (30-13, 30-19, 30-12) win over Mid-Continent University (Ky.). This game was originally scheduled to be play at Mid-Continent back but had to be rescheduled and moved to Jackson. Union improved to 21-8 overall and 11-6 in the TranSouth. Mid-Continent dropped to 2-20 on the season and 2-16 in league play.
Union was led by Jackson native Amanda Hutchison Coyle, a former Trinity Christian standout, with 18 kills in just 21 attempts (.857 hitting percentage). Emilie Ogas added 13 kills while CJ Neathamer tallied 10 kills. Jennifer Martins led Union with 49 assists and 20 digs. Cassi Hobbs added 19 digs. Coyle led with three blocks.
Up next for Union will be their final regular season match of the year as they travel to Crichton College (Tenn.) on Tuesday night, November 6. Union will be then begin play as the No. 5 seed in the TranSouth Conference Tournament on November 9-10 in Batesville, Arkansas (Lyon College).
