Union Volleyball Boasts Four Players on All-Conference Team

BATESVILLE, Ark. - 11/9/2007 - The Union University Volleyball team placed four players on the 2007 TranSouth All-Conference list released on Friday at the TranSouth Conference Tournament. Former Trinity Christian standout Amanda Hutchison Coyle was selected as a first team All-Conference performer. Cassi Hobbs and Emilie Ogas were named to the second team All-Conference list. Jennifer Martins was selected as an honorable mentioned.

In addition, Martins, Coyle, CJ Neathamer, and Lindsey Wallach were named TranSouth Scholar Athletes.

Coyle, a 5-foot-9 junior middle hitter from Jackson, Tennessee, led Union with 3.34 kills per game. She tallied a total of 291 kills playing in just 87 of the team’s 111 total games due to an injury. Coyle also posted a team-high 87 blocks (1.0 per game) and 18 service aces.

Hobbs, a 5-foot-7 senior libero Tulare, California, posted 608 (7.24 per game) and also missed several games due to an injury. She holds the school record for digs in a match (46) and holds four of the top five spots in Union history.

Ogas, a 6-foot junior opposite from Porterville, California, tallied 311 kills (2.83 per game) the year and 85 blocks.

Martins, a 5-foot-7 junior setter Mississauga, Ontario,, recorded 1239 assists on the season for 11.35 per game. She also added 31 aces per game, good for second on the team.

Union is currently playing in the TranSouth Conference Tournament in which they began as the No. 5 seed. Union advanced to the second day on Saturday to play the No. 6 seed Bethel College (Tenn.) in an elimination game.
