JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/20/2007 - The Union University baseball program has signed Madison Academic High School standout, Jeremey Stack to a baseball scholarship starting with the 2008-09 season. Stack, a current senior at Madison, inked his intentions to play college baseball at Union in front of numerous family and friends at a signing at Union’s Fresmire Field House.
Stack, a 6-foot-4 and 220 lb. right-hander, prepped at Madison Academic High School where he played baseball and basketball. While at Madison, Stack was a part of the basketball team's District Championship. In baseball, he was named All-State Honorable Mentioned three times, Pitcher of the Year as a freshman, and a was a three-time All-District player. During the summer of 2007, Stack posted a 10-2 record on the mound with a 0.80 ERA and two saves. Stack faced 263 batters, allowing just eight earned runs, striking out 78 batters, and recorded just 21 walks.
Union head coach Brent Fronabarger says of Stack, “I feel Jeremey can come in and pitch some as a freshman. He is a hard worker with a great upside.” Fronabarger adds, “He is big with a good fastball and good breaking ball and will only get better as he continues to learn and grow at the college level.”
