Union's Dudley Named TranSouth Women's Player of the Week

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/5/2008 - Kaitlin Dudley of No. 1 Union University has been named the TranSouth Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Players of the Week for the week ending February 3, 2008.

Dudley, a 5-foot-10 sophomore guard from Dyer, Tennessee, led the Lady Bulldogs to a pair of wins over conference opponents. She had 17 points in an 80-37 win over Mid-Continent and another 23 points in an 89-79 win over Bethel College. In the win over Bethel Dudley added 10 rebounds for her first career double-double at Union.

On the week she averaged 20 points, eight rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game. From the field she hit 14-of-19 (73.7%) and hit all four three-point attempts and 8-of-9 from the foul line.

Union is now 22-0 on the year and 11-0 in conference play. The 22-0 sets a new team record for best start to a season, passing the 21-0 set in the 1987-88 season.

Up next for Union will be a battle of ranked teams when the Lady Bulldogs play host to Trevecca Nazarene Unviersity (Tenn.) on Thursday, February 7. The women will play at 6:00 pm, followed by the men's game at 8:00 pm.
