Union women’s soccer adds signee to fall roster

JACKSON, Tenn. - 7/9/2008 - Terilyn Wassell has signed with Union University to play soccer and pursue a degree in Art. Wassell will enter Union this fall as a freshman.

“We are excited about adding Terilyn to our program,” states Union head coach Brandon Boylan. “She will bring a great work ethic and a hard working attitude to the team.”

Wassell, a 5-foot-4 forward, prepped at Faith Academy in the Philippines where she played soccer and rugby, and also ran cross country and track and field. In soccer, she played for the RIFA League Champions in 2005 and 2006. She also helped her team capture the Centennial Soccer Tournament Title in 2007, the Cutts Cup Title in 2008, and the Class-A Far East Title (Japan) in 2008. Wassell was named soccer MVP, All-Far East, Team Captain, and twice a tournament MVP. In rugby and cross Country, she was named Team Captain and MVP. As a senior in high school, Wassell recorded 28 goals and 16 assists, both team highs. Her four-year career totals were 51 goals and 28 assists. She was voted the Outstanding Senior Girl Athlete at Faith Academy.

Off the field, Wassell was a class officer for two years and was selected as an ACSI Distinguished High School Student in Academics.
