JACKSON, Tenn. - 7/28/2008 - The Union University men’s basketball team has signed Greg Truvillion to the 2008-09 roster. Truvillion is a transfer from Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) Community College and will enter Union this fall as a junior.
“I am very excited to be at Union and cannot wait to start the season,” stated Truvillion.
Truvillion, a 6-foot-8 210 lb guard/forward, averaged 19 points, nine rebounds, and four assists last season as a sophomore at Copiah-Lincoln. He was named Region Newcomer of the Year as a freshman and preseason NJCAA All-American as a sophomore. Truvillion was also named All-Conference, All-State, and All-Region in both seasons.
Union head coach Ralph Turner says the coaching staff is very happy to have Truvillion coming to Union. “Greg will be one of the most versatile players in our conference. He can play just about any position on the floor.” Turner adds, “Although he knows how to score a lot of points, he is one of the most unselfish players I’ve seen.”
Truvillion is a native of Lansing, Michigan and is a graduate of Lansing's Everett High School.
The Union Bulldogs are set to open their 2008-09 season during Union’s Homecoming week with home games on November 4 and November 8 (homecoming).
