JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/2/2008 - The Union University Lady Bulldogs dropped their first match of the season with a 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 19-25, 28-26, 15-10) defeat at the hands of Bryan (Tenn.) College. Union led 2-1, before losing the final two games of the match.
After leading 2-1, Union rallied from an early deficit to tie the game 23-23. The game was knotted again at 26-26, before Bryan won the match and took the momentum into game five. With Bryan leading 14-6 in the final game, Union sparked a comeback attempt, scoring four straight points. However, the Union rally was stopped short, giving Bryan the victory.
Amanda Coyle led Union with 19 kills, while Anna Sims added 12 kills. Katie Adams recorded 50 assists, and CJ Neathamer added 45 digs.
Union dropped to 1-1 on the year, while Bryan improved to 3-2 this season.
Up next for Union will be the College of the Ozarks Tournament in Point Lookout, Missouri on Friday and Saturday, September 5-6.
