Cookeville baseball standout signs with Union

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/3/2008 - Cookeville, Tenn. native Wade Collins has signed to play his college baseball for the Bulldogs of Union University. Collins, who led Cookeville to a district title in 2008, will enter Union this fall as a freshman.

Collins, a 6-foot-2 190 lb. infielder, prepped at Cookeville High School where he played baseball for Coach Greg Tubbs. Collins helped lead his team to the District 7-AAA regular season championship in 2008. During his junior season, Collins led his team with a .450 batting average. His sophomore year he earned recognition for the most improved. As a freshman, Collins was named offensive player of the year.

“Wade provides us with a left-handed bat with pop”, states Brent Fronbarger, Union’s head coach. Fronabarger adds, “He is also a very solid defensive player at both corner infield positions”.
