Union women's soccer tops Asbury 2-0, reserve team wins 3-0

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/6/2008 - The Union University Lady Bulldogs defeated Asbury (Ky.) College 2-0 on Saturday. The win improved the Lady Bulldogs to 3-1 on the season and completed a two-win sweep for the weekend in Kentucky. On Friday, Union knocked off Georgetown (Ky.) College 4-1.

Union's Jill Landers scored first, assisted by Caitlin Zimmerman. The final goal of the day for Union was posted by Sam Gase, with the assist going to Kaitlin Dirksen.

The Union reserve team also won two games this weekend in Kentucky, with Saturday's 3-0 victory over Asbury. Terilyn Wassell scored first, assisted by Rachel Fillinger. Morgan Walley added the second goal assisted by Leah Bender. The third and final goal for the reserve team was score by Katie Johnson, assisted by Wassell. The reserve team defeated Georgetown 2-1 on Friday.

Up next for Union will be a TranSouth Conference double-header at Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University. The women will play at 5:00 pm with the men to follow at 8:00 pm.
