Union women's soccer wins third straight, Zimmerman records hat trick

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/9/2008 - The Union University Lady Bulldogs posted their third straight win of the season with a 4-0 win at Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University. With the win, Union improved to 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in the TranSouth.

Union's junior forward Caitlin Zimmerman posted her first hat trick of the season with three goals in the match. Zimmerman, Union's first and only NAIA All-American women's soccer player, recorded three hat tricks last season.

Union scored first with a goal from Zimmerman, assisted by Jill Landers, in the fifth minute of play. That started an explosive first half in which Union scored all four of their goals. In addition to the three goals from Zimmerman, Union also recorded a team goal when a Trojan player scored an own goal. Christina Reardon also recorded an assist for Union in the contest.

Up next for Union will be a home match on Saturday, September 13 versus Oklahoma Baptist University. The match will begin at 2:00 pm.
