JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/23/2008 - The Union University women's soccer team used a late first half goal to take a 1-0 victory over Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University. The one goal for Union was the lone shot out of a total of 32 shots to find the back of the net. Union out shot Freed-Hardeman 32-1 in the match.
Union's goal came just one minute before halftime on a shot from Julie Ocampos-Barry, assisted by Jamie Haynes. That proved to be all of the scoring in the contest.
Union goalie Laura Pla, the TranSouth Defensive Player of the Week for the past two weeks, had an uneventful night as she face no shots on goal from Freed-Hardeman.
Lady Lion goalie, Tiffany Harris, recorded 14 saves as she worked to keep her team in the match.
Up next for Union will be another home match on Saturday, September 27 at 6:00 pm versus Belhaven (Miss.) College.
