Union women's soccer knocks off Belhaven College 2-0

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/27/2008 - The Lady Bulldogs of Union University defeated Belhaven (Miss.) College in a non-conference match by a final score of 2-0. The Lady Bulldogs are now 7-3 on the season. Belhaven falls to 6-2.

Union took an early lead in the match scoring both goals in the first 25 minutes of play. Caitlin Zimmerman scored both goals, the first one in the 10th minute of play. Zimmerman added her second goal on an assist by Cheslie Tharpe in the 25th minute.

Union was led by Zimmerman who scored both goals on two shots. Brooke Walker also added two shots for the Lady Bulldogs.

Belhaven had four shots-on-goal, but was never able to get the ball into the back of the net. Belhaven was led by Nicole Trawick who tallied five shots.

Union's next match will be against local rival Lambuth (Tenn.) University on Tuesday, September 30 at Union at 5:00 pm, with the men's game to follow at 7 pm.
