Road win puts Union volleyball's streak at eight

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/7/2008 - The Union University volleyball team extended their season long winning streak to eight matches with a 3-1 (17-25, 25-22, 29-27, 25-18) victory over Cumberland (Tenn.) University. Union, now 16-4 overall, keeps their hold on second place in the TranSouth with an 8-2 league record. Cumberland drops to 14-11 on the season and 4-5 in the conference.

This marks the longest winning streak for Union since the Lady Bulldogs posted 11 straight victories in 2006.

Union struggled in the first game, losing 25-13. However, the Lady Bulldogs of Union took over with three straight wins to seal the match.

Union entered the match having defeated Cumberland twice already this season, 3-1 at Union in a conference match and then 3-0 in a non-conference match at the Cumberland Tournament.

Up next for Union will be a non-conference match at home versus crosstown rival Lambuth University on Thursday, October 9 at 7:00 pm.
