Union men’s soccer signs first player for 2009 roster

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/19/2009 - The Union University men’s soccer program has signed their first player for the 2009 season. Joe Shultz of Jackson, Mo., inked his scholarship papers and will enter Union this fall as a freshman.

Shultz, a 5-foot-11 190 lb. midfielder, prepped at Jackson (Mo.) High School where he played four years of soccer and golf. He helped lead his soccer team to the District Championship in 2006 and 2007. Shultz was named All-Conference, MVP Midfielder, and Offensive MVP as a senior. He also earned the Leadership Award as a junior member of the golf team.

Union Head Coach Clovis Simas says, “Joe is a player that will develop well in our program. He is a strong player with good skills and will be able to help our program during his career.”
