Union Men up to No. 6 in NAIA rankings, Ladies hold top spot for 20th straight ranking

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - 2/2/2009 - For the 20th straight NAIA Women’s Basketball National Rankings, the Union University Lady Bulldogs are the No. 1 team. In the latest NAIA rankings released on Monday afternoon, Union’s ladies captured all 12 first place votes to keep the top spot. While on the men’s side, Union’s men jumped three spots to No. 6.

Union’s women are coming off a 2-0 week with both wins coming on the road. Union was a perfect 8-0 in the month of January, pushing their overall record to 21-1. Union also remained perfect in the TranSouth with a 9-0 record. Up next for Union will be a top-5 battle on the road at No. 4 Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 6:00 pm. Trevecca Nazarene (7-1) is in second place in the conference standings.

This marks the second time that Union has been No. 6 in the rankings this season. Union has made it to as high as No. 3 this year. The Bulldogs are 3-2 versus teams in the top 10, and 7-3 versus team that are ranked or receiving votes in the polls. Up next for the men will be a road game at Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday at 8:00 pm.
