Union ladies No. 1 for 21 straight rankings; Men up to No. 5

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/9/2009 - Union University's Lady Bulldogs have held on to the top spot in the latest NAIA National Ranking, making it the Lady Bulldog's 21st consecutive poll at No. 1. The men moved up one spot to grab the No. 5 spot in the latest NAIA poll.

The Lady Bulldogs (22-1, 10-0) used an 80-69 win on the road at then No. 3 Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University to remain perfect in TranSouth Conference play. The Lady Bulldogs earned all 12 first-place votes in the polls this week. Up next for the Lady Bulldogs will be a trip to Lebanon, Tenn., to play conference foe Cumberland University on Thursday, February 12. The game will tip off at 6 pm.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs moved up to No. 5. This is the third time this season the Bulldogs have held the No. 5 mark. The men used an 81-78 win at Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University to post a perfect week, moving to 19-4 overall and 9-1 in league play. Next for the Bulldogs will also be a trip to Cumberland (Tenn.) to complete the current 5-game road swing. The men's game will tip off at 8 pm, following the women's match up.
