Trinity Christian standout signs volleyball scholarship with Union

JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/7/2009 - The Union University volleyball program has added local standout, Meagan Gipson, from Trinity Christian Academy to the roster beginning in the fall of 2009. Gipson will graduate from Trinity Christian in May and will enter Union as an Athletic Training major this coming fall.

Gipson, a 5-foot-5 setter/defensive specialist, prepped at Trinity Christian in Jackson where she was a three sport athlete. In addition to playing volleyball, Gipson also played basketball and ran track. In volleyball, she helped lead her team to the region title in 2005, district and region titles in 2006, followed by district, region, and sub-state titles in 2007. Gipson was named Best Defensive Player and All-District as a junior. She added All-District and All-Tournament to her list of honors as a senior. Gipson recorded 91 aces, 519 assists and 150 digs as a junior, while posting 78 aces, 259 assists, and 106 digs during her senior season.

Gipson also played for district, region, and sub-state title teams in basketball. She earned the Hustle Award as a freshman basketball player, while earning the Team Player Award in track as a sophomore.

In other activities at Trinity Christian, Gipson was a member of the Beta Club and was selected to the Homecoming court in each of her four high school years.

Gipson is the daughter of Jeff and Debra Gipson and is a member of West Jackson Baptist Church.
