Union volleyball adds California JUCO player to 2009 roster

Kelsey Duling

JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/21/2009 - Kelsey Duling of Pasadena, Calif., has signed to continue her college volleyball at Union University. Duling will enter Union this fall as a junior, completing her major in business.

Union Head Coach Steven Gream says, “Kelsey gives us balanced volleyball player who can contribute to our team in more than one area. She is not only a powerful weapon with her offensive skills, but also is an outstanding defensive player. She played at a high level in California and we look for her to bring her experience and skills to Union as we work to defend our 2008 TranSouth Tournament Championship.”

Duling, a 5-foot-7 outside hitter and defensive specialist, transferred to Union from Mt. San Antonio Community College in California. While at Mt. San Antonio, she helped lead her team to a second place finish in the conference, behind the eventual California Junior College State Champion. Duling was named the California Community College Athlete of the Month as a sophomore and was also a two-time first team All-Conference player. In her two years at Mt. San Antonio, she tallied 576 kills, 91 blocks, 91 aces, and 613 digs.

Duling prepped at Gabrielino High School where she played volleyball and softball, leading her volleyball team in back-to-back league championship seasons. Duling was a two-time high school All-League player, was twice named team MVP, and was named the Mission Valley League MVP.

Off the court, Duling was the senior class president in 2007 and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society.

Duling is the daughter of Dennis and Nancy Duling of Pasadena.
