JACKSON, Tenn. - 7/31/2009 - Brady Sheppard of Milan, Tenn. will join the Union University men’s basketball program this fall. Brady will enter Union as a freshman and will major in electrical engineering.

Sheppard, a 6-foot-1 shooting guard, prepped at Milan High School where he played basketball and football. He was named game captain, all-academic, all-district, all-district tournament and all-region following his senior year. Sheppard was also named Milan's Most Valuable Offensive Player and was selected to the West Tennessee All-Star Game. He averaged 11.3 points per game while making 57 three pointers as a senior. Sheppard shot 85 percent from the free throw line, 52 percent from the field and 44 percent from behind the arc. In 2006, he helped lead his team to the Gibson County Christmas Tournament Championship.

Union head coach David Niven says, “I have known Brady and his family for many years. Brady began coming to Union basketball camps when he was a kid. It has been fun to watch him develop and continue to improve into the player he is today. Brady is a tough player that will not back down. He played for and has been raised by a great coach, his father, Todd Sheppard. He plays with the poise and intelligence of a coach's son. I am thrilled that he has chosen to be a part of our family at Union.”

Off the court, Sheppard was a four-time Academic Excellence award winner, three-time scholar athlete, Boys State delegate and a Destination Imagination State and Global finalist.

Sheppard is the son of Todd and Kellye Sheppard.
