JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/8/2009 - The Union University women’s soccer team posted their second straight win in a 4-1 victory over University of Alabama-Huntsville on Tuesday. Union improved to 4-2, while UAH dropped to 2-2 on the season.
Union scored first with a goal from Eboni Murphy in the 15th minute of play. In the 31st minute, Union’s Mollie Beanblossom put Union up 2-0 with a goal. UAH responded quick as six minute later, a goal from Lauren Burns cut the Union lead down to 2-1. That 2-1 advantage for Union held as the halftime score.
In the second half, Union was able to stretch their lead, as well as, keep UAH off the scoreboard. A goal from Steffi King just two minutes into the half, followed by a goal from Candice Blackard just six minutes later, put the game away for Union. King also recorded one assist in the match for Union.
Mary Jane Garrott and Katie Moser split time in the goal with Moser recording three saves and playing 73 minutes for Union. Union out shot UAH, 20-13 in the match. UAH’s’ Lauren Kelly and Marissa Middleton combined for 10 saves in the match.
Up next for Union will be the second match in a stretch of seven straight home matches. Union host Georgetown (Ky.) College on Friday, September 11 at 8:00 p.m.
