Union’s Andrea Darr Named NAIA All-Region Player

Jackson, Tenn. - 12/2/2002 - Union University volleyball standout, Andrea Darr, has been named to the 2002 NAIA All-Region XI Team. Darr, Union’s only senior, adds this to her all-conference honor earlier this season. Union finished the season 26-13 overall and tied for second in the TranSouth Regular season. The Lady Bulldogs also made their fifth straight NAIA Region XI Tournament appearance.

Darr, a 5-11 middle hitter from Swansea, Illinois, post 293 kills, 70 aces, 239 digs, and 36 blocks in 91 games. Her season was cut short as she missed the final week of the regular season and all the post season with a broken foot.

Her four-year career at Union has been among the best in Union’s five year history. Darr joined the Lady Bulldogs in 1999 after staring at Bellville High School in her hometown of Swansea, IL. She as tallied a total of 1,559 career kills with here best season coming as a junior in 2001 with 449 kills. Darr has ranked among the leaders in the TranSouth Conference in kills each season and currently ranks second in Union career kills behind NAIA record holder Lauren Hayden (3,353).

Darr has been a part of two TranSouth regular season championships, one TranSouth tournament championship, four NAIA Region XI Tournament appearances, four NCCAA MidEast Region Championships, and one NCCAA National Tournament runner-up.
