JACKSON, Tenn. - 12/1/2009 - The No. 11 Union University Bulldogs posted a 75-53 win over Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) College on Tuesday at Union’s Fred DeLay Gymnasium. Union improved to 7-3 on the season, while Hannibal-LaGrange dropped to 4-6 overall.
Union was led by the TranSouth men’s basketball Player of the Week, Greg Truvillion, with 16 points and 12 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season.
Union led 36-18 at the half after leading by as many as 19 points in the opening half. The Bulldogs pushed their lead to as many as 24 points on two occasions in the second half, the last coming 75-51.
In addition to Truvillion’s double-double, Union was paced by Stan McNeil with 12 points, while Martez Hawkins and Antoine Joseph scored 10 points each. Union shot 44 percent from the field, 21 percent (4-19) from behind the arc and 83 percent (19-23) from the free throw line.
Hannibal-LaGrange was led by Cody Stoneburner with 11 points and Brian Gilbert with 10 points. The Trojans shot 41 percent from the field, 25 percent (2-8) from three point range and 70 percent (7-10) from behind the arc.
Up next for Union will be an opportunity to avenge an earlier road loss when Union host Belhaven (Miss.) College on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Belhaven rallied from 14 points down in the second half to top Union 75-72 earlier this season.
