NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 1/4/2010 - Kaitlin Dudley of the No. 1 ranked Union (Tenn.) University Lady Bulldogs has been named the TranSouth Conference women’s basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 3, 2010.
Dudley, a 5-foot-10 senior guard from Bradford, Tenn., helped Union to a 2-0 week. In the two wins during the Daytona Beach Shootout, Dudley averaged 16 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals per game. She posted 43 percent shooting from the field, 38 percent (6-16) from behind the arc and 50 percent (2-4) from the free throw line in the two games. Dudley scored 14 points while posting four rebounds and four assists in Union’s 95-73 win over No. 18 Wayland Baptist (Texas). Her best game was an 18-point performance in the 76-57 win over Brenau (Ga.).
Union is 13-1 on the season and has been ranked No. 1 in the NAIA for 28 straight rankings. The next ranking will be released on January 11. Union will play next on Thursday, January 7 at home versus Bethel (Tenn.) in the first TranSouth game of the season. Union will put their 50-game home winning streak on the line as they work toward a fourth straight TranSouth title.
