Union softball splits two games on Saturday

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/20/2010 - The Union (Tenn.) University softball team split two games on Saturday. Union opened the day with a 6-5 loss to University of Missouri-St. Louis and then rallied for a 6-4 win over William Woods (Mo.) University. Union is 4-2 on the season.

The win, Union trailed 4-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning before scoring five runs in the frame. Union had hits from six different players. However, Amber Hayes had a two RBI along with a pinch-hit two-RBI single from Ali Bozza to spark the rally. Brook Thomas (3-1) earned the win with seven innings of work, allowing just one earned run and striking out four.

In the loss, Union trailed 2-0, then rallied to lead 3-2 going into the fourth inning. Missouri-St. Louis scored three in the fourth and one in the fifth to lead 6-3. Union added a late run but could not complete the rally.
