Union’s Dudley to have jersey displayed in Women’s Basketball HOF

JACKSON, Tenn. - 6/4/2010 - Union (Tenn.) University’s all-time leading scorer Kaitlin Dudley will have her jersey displayed in the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tenn. Dudley’s jersey will hang in the Ring of Honor in the Hall of Fame for the 2010-11 season. Dudley recently helped Union win their second straight NAIA National title and fourth title in six years.

“The Ring of Honor is one of our favorite displays at the Hall of Fame and has become one of our most popular exhibits,” says Karen Tucker, Director of Basketball Operations for the Hall of Fame. “Without a doubt, Kaitin (Dudley) is definitely a part of an elite group, and a part of history now too!”

Union head coach Mark Campbell says, “What a great way for Kaitlin to be remembered and Union to be represented. Kaitlin has represented Union is such a great way over her four years and this just finishes off one of the greatest careers in Lady Bulldog basketball history. We will miss one of the most mentally tough players I will ever coach.”

Dudley, a former Gibson County High School standout, started all 148 games in her career at Union. She became Union’s all-time leading scorer during the 2010 NAIA National Tournament. Dudley finished her Union career with 2,385 points. She also tallied 718 career rebounds, 458 assists and 213 steals. Dudley proved to be one on the best shooters in program history with 49 percent shooting from the field, 43 percent (324-748) from three-point range and 85 percent (393-465) from the free-throw line.

For her efforts in 2009-10, Dudley was named the TranSouth Conference Player of the Year. She was a four-time first team all-conference and a four-time NAIA All-American.
