Union's Hayes named NFCA All-Region

JACKSON, Tenn. - 7/19/2010 - Union (Tenn.) University junior Amber Hayes was named to the 2010 National FastPitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NAIA All-Region second team. Hayes helped Union to a runner-up finish in the TranSouth Conference regular season this past year.

Hayes, at 5-foot-9, played first base for Union this past season. The Brighton, Tenn. native posted a team-high 38 runs, 10 home runs and 35 RBI. Hayes was third on the team with a .344 batting average. Hayes added 12 doubles and a .606 slugging percentage. She also posted a .978 fielding percentage at first base with just eight errors in 364 chances.

Hayes adds this honor to her TranSouth first team All-Conference and TranSouth Scholar Athlete honors following the 2010 season. She was also named TranSouth player of the week twice this past season.
